Tenure Line Faculty Position – Assistant or Associate Professor

Position Summary: The University of Utah College of Nursing invites emerging scientists to apply for a tenure line (tenure seeking) faculty position. We seek innovative scholars to enhance and expand our high priority research programs in the areas of cancer, aging, palliative care, women’s health, health disparities, informatics and/or health services research. Top candidates are committed to innovation that leads to the improvement of health and the experiences of patients and families within the health care system and community.

College of Nursing: Currently ranked 2nd in the nation in NIH funding, the College of Nursing is a focal point for researchers and clinicians from the broader University and the Huntsman Cancer Institute to collaboratively improve individual, family, and community health, and quality of life. This scholar will join a cadre of dynamic interdisciplinary faculty engaged in team-based research. Our college is home to the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program and the Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence. The College of Nursing has a P01 Program Project Grant from NCI titled “Enhancing End-of-Life and Bereavement Outcomes Among Cancer Caregivers.” The College of Nursing is also home to the NIH funded Pediatric Research using Integrated Sensor Monitoring Systems (PRISMS) Informatics Center and a T32 award from NINR titled “Interdisciplinary Training in Cancer, Aging and End of Life Care”. The Emma Eccles Jones Nursing Research Center provides infrastructure and support for the College of Nursing research mission, and includes a biostatistics core.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities: Faculty in the tenure line engage in active independent and team-based research and scholarship in their area of concentration. Opportunities for teaching in the doctoral, post-doctoral or other programs are matched to the candidate’s expertise.

Criteria: Candidates must have an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field. Candidates should have evidence of scholarly publications in refereed journals and demonstrated ability to generate extramural funding in one or more of the priority areas. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
