Job Summary

Designs and codes applications according to written specifications and verbal instructions from systems analysts. Supports department programmers and system analysts as well as other technical staff with programming and analysis related activities.

Responsibilities

Codes software applications to adhere to designs supporting internal business requirements or external customers. Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software. Oversees testing and develops fixes.

Has knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the software development field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude required. Typically reports to a project leader or manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Department specific preferred qualifications:

Eight to twelve years progressively responsible experience that includes programming experience with large system implementations; a degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalency. Experience in the PeopleSoft development environment. Broad knowledge of the overall development process and skills in multiple programming and scripting languages, including PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Application Package, SQL, SQR, C or C++. Fundamental understanding of relational database concepts. Demonstrated testing and troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated human relations and communications skills, and ability to work in a team environment. A strong commitment to excellence in service.

Preferences

Experience with the implementation of applications in a UNIX/Oracle environment. Campus Solutions experience in Peoplesoft.
