Job Summary

The Office for Inclusive Excellence (OIE) and the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) is excited to announce that we are seeking a faculty development specialist in the area of diversity in learning environments for a newly created position to join our team. Given our institutional and leadership commitment to inclusive excellence at the University of Utah, we are looking for an educator to develop new programming and promote inclusive teaching to support faculty and administrators in our respective academic units. Our ideal candidate will have a background in inclusion and diversity, but the flexibility to contribute to a wide array of programming that we offer.

This position will be part of a dynamic team engaged in faculty development for the University of Utah colleges and departments. Specifically, the position will:

• Oversee current and develop new programming to shape more inclusive classroom climates; advance innovative teaching for inclusive excellence; and empower higher education pedagogy
• Support departments and colleges with implementing recommendations after campus climate assessments are complete
• Work with colleagues to assess and measure the impact of inclusive excellence initiatives
• Collaborate with CTLE colleagues to infuse the concepts and practices of inclusion into current programming
• Provide consultations with colleagues and faculty
• Participate in current and future initiatives at CTLE and OIE as needed
• Engage in scholarship on the topic of inclusive teaching and faculty development

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate degree with concentration in inclusion / diversity.
• Teaching experience in higher education classrooms
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations
• Ability to develop and coordinate appropriate faculty development opportunities on inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment practices
• Knowledge of “best practices” in inclusive teaching
• A creative and motivated self-starter who can develop and implement tested and emerging ideas from the field
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills
• Flexibility to participate where needed in programs and activities of OIE and CTLE


• Experience in developing, implementing and assessing faculty development programming
• Understanding of faculty needs in a research/student centered institution
• Familiarity with change methods and models
