Our team is comprised of data gurus, passionate about our mission. We provide official data reporting for the University and we contextualize decisions with empirical evidence.

We are looking for someone to help give our data a voice. We need a strategic partner across our teams to produce and maintain dashboards, visualizations, and various other business intelligence reports. While the majority of the work will be done in Tableau, we’re looking for someone who is comfortable managing data from multiple sources, understands database design and is skilled with SQL. We don’t like to settle for the status quo, therefore a strong eye for design and a desire for continual improvement in knowledge and skill is certainly valued.

• Execute the director’s vision, as implemented by the manager. This vision includes providing new and innovative approaches to visualizing and developing analytics for the University.

• Design, build and maintain dashboards and visualizations.

• Serve as an expert data visualization consultant and trainer for Tableau users across the University.

• Build business analyst-type skills in gathering requirements from various audiences, translating them into actionable project plans, designing meaningful solutions, and producing powerful results.

• Solve complex technical problems.

• Collaborate across teams, departments and external agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in related area (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Two to four years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

• Applicants must be skilled in using Tableau and be willing to provide examples of prior work demonstrating their ability creating dashboards and visualizations.

• Ability to blend good design principles with complex data in creating functional and informative visualizations or analysis.

• Experience with Oracle SQL, PeopleSoft, SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence, Domo, Power BI, OBIEE, Open Source Visualization tools, or similar technical expertise.

• Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
