Job Summary

The University of Utah’s McKay Music Library is hiring a Library Aide to assist with library research projects. This position will assist with bibliographical and digital projects requiring research tasks such as source location, source analysis, information synthesis, metadata application, and data entry. The successful candidate will be qualified for these tasks as well as detail oriented, and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

After training, able to work with moderate supervision, assist library director as needed. See above.

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months clerical or customer service experience required; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

Knowledge of classical music, demonstrated ability to discern authoritative reference sources. Knowledge of campus electronic databases and research tools. Experience with spreadsheets. Self-direction with attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize. Responsible and dependable.
